Clearing the Garden

There are way too many ‘weeds’ in the garden of my consciousness.

It is time to think about the things I spend my time on, and the impact they have on my goals, instead of just allowing my ‘I’s to rule my life with every fleeting whim they have.

‘Just watch one show .. then meditate / study / whatever.’

‘Plenty of time. Watch another show.’

‘OK, no more tv. How about you read forums for a bit?’

‘I know we’re not hungry, but I feel like eating something; then we’ll study!’

‘Listen to me today, you can always drop me tomorrow – yeah! that’s a good idea, if you let me run the show – just for today, it will be easier to get rid of me tomorrow!’

As I write these out, I can see that they make absolutely no sense. Why would allowing my I’s to run the show today make it easier for me to move passed them tomorrow? The truth is that it wont – it will make it harder as there will be a precedent set, a pattern that can be referenced everytime a similar situation comes up in the future. Each time the pattern is re-enforced, it gathers strength, and requires more awareness to disconnect from.

The reason I continue to listen to these ‘I’s is that part me still identifies with them. It believes that ‘I’ want to do these things. That’s why they’re called ‘I’s I guess.

Time to get rid of some of these ‘weeds’.

  • Welcome

This blog has been created primarily as a record of my spiritual journey with Higher Balance ( http://www.higherbalance.com ) .

I guess you could say I’ve been a seeker for most of my life. Like many people, I’ve felt a void inside me that I’ve tried to fill with everything from drugs and alcohol; to video games and study; and even the search for the ever elusive, idealised partner who we imagine will somehow complete us.

Through using the foundation meditation, which is one of the core teachings of Higher Balance, I have touched on that connection to something greater that I have been searching for my whole life.

Through this blog I will share my experiences and thoughts, as much for myself as anyone else.
